Emotional intelligence has become a major topic in the self-help community. Many famous personalities, self-help gurus and scientists have stated that EQ is more important than IQ and having decent emotional intelligence will make you happier, healthier and wealthier. And perhaps it’s true. It is common sense that our emotions have an impact on our daily lives. If we are lucky enough to be raised emotionally intelligent, we are less likely to experience higher levels of stress, anxiety and disappointment in our lives. But what happens when we can’t rely on our upbringing or support system? What happens when we have experienced trauma or have lost loved ones?
